Plan your travel - TripAdvisor

If you haven't read previous article, you can read that first or just read this article. Umm.. I am rambling again. So back again, this article's about traveling. It's more like planning.

Have you all visit TurisLokal? There're some differences between this travel site. First, TurisLokal is about the travel destinations in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the TripAdvisor's more like planning your travel, accommodations and of course the destinations too.

Second, TripAdvisor you can plan your entire trip, flight, hotel, restaurant in your destination. You can manage your budget with this site. At least you don't have to wander around and lost in new place. But TurisLokal you just read some articles that probably mention "how to get there" or "where's the restaurant".

Third, TurisLokal only comes in Bahasa Indonesia. On the other hand, TripAdvisor is in many language, more than 30 countries.

Forth, TripAdvisor has come with Mobile Application in iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. While TurisLokal only comes in website. The apps also free!!

Fifth, there's GreenLeaders Programme in TripAdvisor, so it identifies hotels and B&Bs that are committed to green practices like recycling, water efficiency and alternative energy. But there's no such thing in TurisLokal.

If you read it, you probably thinking that TripAdvisor has a lot to offer for traveler. I also think that way. But what I like about TurisLokal, it's made by Indonesian people. It maybe cannot compete with TripAdvisor, but hopefully it can reach Indonesian people.

Anyway, which one would you prefer TripAdvisor or TurisLokal?

in love with SwiftKey ^^

I have Samsung smartphone, and sometimes it's so slow that I want to throw it. It's not only Samsung, I bet when your smartphone done so many application in one time, it become slow too. So when I heard the news about SwiftKey became free, I am so ecstatic. I just installed it on Saturday and so far I love it.

What is SwiftKey? Here's the description from Google Play.
SwiftKey Keyboard is an intelligent app for Android that upgrades your device's on-screen keyboard, making it faster and easier for you to type. This free, award-winning app delivers smarter autocorrect and next-word prediction in over 60 languages. It’s packed full of customization features, including over 30 colorful themes, layouts for all screen sizes and devices, support for over 800 emoji, emoji prediction and much more!

Amazing that it include Javanese and Sundanese for their language library. But why there's no Japanese thou? To make it more confusing, it's including Korean. Anyway, I love it because it's a lot faster than Samsung Keyboard. Sorry Samsung.

You can also split the keyboard and drag the keyboard. It's easy, simple and fast. What more can I say? But if you don't like a plain theme, you can change it but of course not all of them are free. Yup, you have to buy it. Still, I love it.

In the article, it said that maybe SwiftKey will be in iOS. Well, we see..  If you want to get this apps in your Android devices just go to SwiftKey in Google Play

Thanks for reading this. Bye guys :)

Foxit or Adobe?

Do you get many assignments and they all have to be in pdf? People said "get me the pdf" or "do you have the pdf?". PDF is document type like doc. But why people talk more about pdf?

First, Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format used to present documents in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout flat document, including the text, fonts, graphics, and other information needed to display it. (source: Wikipedia)

So we cannot change anything in pdf. That's why people use it. When we open doc in our laptop, it could be that the software version of ours is lower than the person who gave the document. That could lead, several problems with layout, some graphic won't come out, and etc.

Now, I will get to the software. There're many software to read pdf, such as Foxit and Adobe. This are 2 software which widely used by people.

As I read in their website, Foxit Reader is small, fast, and feature rich PDF viewer which allows you to open, view, and print any PDF file. Unlike other free PDF readers, Foxit Reader also includes easy to use collaboration features like the ability to add annotations, fill out forms, and share content with social networks. It is designed to meet the PDF viewing needs of enterprise and government organizations, making it easy to deploy and manage in large enterprise environments. Foxit Reader can also be customized to specific product features and branding.

+ Open multiple PDF files in one window. If you open many files, it'll be in different tabs.
+ Add and manage comments in line, as note, highlight text, strikeout text or underline the text.
+ Convert a file into a PDF.
+ Create PDF from scanned documents, from content on the clipboard, or create a blank PDF.
+ Create and manage signature.
+ Create a new link in PDF.
+ Select viewed area in bookmark.
+ Attach file and insert image, audio and video.
+ Add stamps.
+ Send through email, Evernote or Facebook.

Adobe Reader is a free software from Adobe to open, view and print PDF files.

- Only open one PDF in one window.
+ Add text and placed signature.
+ Add comment in sticky notes or highlight text.
+ Export PDF files online.
+ Create PDF files
+ Send files in attachment or using Adobe Send.
+ Page Thumbnails. Go to specific pages using thumbnails image.
+ Attachments. View file attachments.

Foxit Reader (left) and Adobe Reader (right)
From my experience with both software, I prefer Foxit Reader. It's simple with many function and it can open multiple files. That is very important to college student like me and also to people who open PDF very often.

Anyway, thanks for read my articles. Bye bye ^^

Share Your Secret (w/ Mobile Apps)

Recently, I became so busy and forgot to post in this blog. Well, I have another in Tumblr. But it has a lot of post about One Ok Rock. I tend to go back and forth with this blog and the other. Anyway, I opened DailySocial for some news. Guess what it's about social media where we can post as anonymous. Hmm..

I found that is interesting. It's new concept. You can post to stranger without giving in your identity. You can freely post your mind. Freedom. Without the others to judge. They can judge but hey they don't know who you ar, pre say.

As in the article, there're 3 mobile apps with that concept.
  1. Rahasiaku - Berbagi Rahasia (Android) It was made by Polatic in Android platform. The language is Indonesia. But I confused because the category is entertainment. Since the other apps category is social. But the function pretty much the same. The rating is 5 by 7 people. I guess because it's new only 10-50 download. If you want to post here, you must register weather with email or facebook account. And the Pesan fitur or message fitur is not complete. Too bad..
    The main page. Looks simple.

    RahasiaKu

    Pesan
  2. Secret (Android and iOS) Secret is a new way to share what you're thinking and feeling with your friends. You can write anything that’s on your mind, free of judgment. Be honest. Be open. Be yourself. There're 100.000 - 500.000 people who had download this app. You have to register if you want to use it.
  3. Whisper (Android and iOS) There're 1.000.000 - 5.000.000 people who downloaded this app. It's bigger number than Rahasiaku and Secret. Whisper is an anonymous social network that allows people to express themselves, connect with like-minded individuals, and discover the unseen world around us. With Whisper, you can anonymously share your thoughts and emotions with the world, and form lasting and meaningful relationships in a community built around trust and honesty. If you have ever had something too intimate to share on traditional social networks, simply share it on Whisper!\

In my opinion, I rather use Whisper that Secret and Rahasiaku. Since in Whisper you don't have to sign up to post. But over all they offer same thing, anonymous post. Some with advantage over the others. Thanks for read this. Bye

Uber @ Jakarta guys!!

Yeyy.. I got news yesterday, that Uber will be operated @ Jakarta this year. Hopefully this year. Are you guys excited? I am!! Wooo... Urg too much exictement... sorry.. let's get down to it..

What is Uber?

Uber is an American venture-funded start-up and transportation network company based in San Francisco, California that makes mobile application software ("app") that connects passengers with drivers of vehicles for hire and ride-sharing services. The company arranges pickups in dozens of cities around the world.
Initially, Uber drivers had cars such as Lincoln Town Cars, Cadillac Escalades, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes-Benz S550 sedans. After 2012, Uber added a wider selection of cars to market to a broader cross-section of the market, called UberX. Cars are reserved by sending a text message or by using a mobile app. Using the apps, customers can track their reserved car's location.

Uber is evolving the way the world moves. By seamlessly connecting riders to drivers through our apps, we make cities more accessible, opening up more possibilities for riders and more business for drivers. From our founding in 2009 to our launches in over 70 cities today, Uber's rapidly expanding global presence continues to bring people and their cities closer.

It's a great mobile apps!! we don't need to say where we going, how to get there, and for money, the charge comes to our credit card. Ride-sharing concept? Brilliant! You can asked for private drivers. Of course it's not taxi. But the drivers already had a background check so you can relax. I got to say, it must be interesting to be a driver ^^ (check this article)

But I don't know if they will be succeed in Indonesia. According to DailySocial, there're some regulation in Indonesia. Because Uber doesn't have commercial license like taxi, so they can be called "illegal taxi". Well, I am from Indonesia and I wonder what if there're crimes when passages ride with partner car (ride-sharing drivers). Anyway, Uber can faced some lawsuit if they don't handle the situation with the governor here (Indonesia). I just hope they have handled the problems before opening at Jakarta.

Psstt..
Uber_JKT is looking for interns for this summer. But you have to be fluent in Indonesia and English of course. You can send your CV to andrewkim@uber.com. If you want to know what jobs are offered, just go to this link.

That's it and have a nice day..

We need more storage!!

Yes, deep down inside, I know we all think, we need more storage. We have enough but not enough for our hobbies (maybe photography, movie, anything) or for someone with so much document. At some point, you begin to search for storage.

That's when cloud storage began to shine. Do you know what is cloud storage?
Cloud storage is a model of networked enterprise storage where data is stored in virtualized pools of storage which are generally hosted by third parties.
So basically you can store data virtually, not in your hard-disk. But to access it you need network, internet. It's an unlimited storage online!!

Personally I used so many cloud storage. Some for my college project and materials, some just my pictures because I tend to shot a lot of pictures back when I was in senior high. For now, I will write down some of cloud storage that I used ^^

  1. Dropbox - Start from 2 GB (you can get more from invite people). I am quiet happy with it. Nahh, I just majorly happy!! I got 6 GB because.. ohh I don't know maybe because I sync it with my phone. LOL lame excuses.. sorry guys, i don't know the reason why..
  2. Box - Start from 10 GB for free (according to their web). I put all my college materials and projects here. It's interface looks the same with Dropbox.
  3. MediaFire - Start from 10 GB. People used it mostly to share their files with others because I think it's a lot easier. Thou I don't open it anymore.
  4. Google Drive - Start from 15 GB. What make people use it, because it's synchronized with Google Mail. Google and their empire =___=;;;

So far? I like Dropbox because it can sync our photos from smartphone to the cloud storage. It's simple and easy. I hope this article can helped you :)

That's all from me. I hope I can see you tomorrow ^^

I L-O-V-E Wattpad!!

The title too much isn't it. But it's describe a little of what I'm feeling now. It's like the holy grail for people like me who like reading (a lot!!). Well, yeah I'm not the smartest people but I like reading. It's comforting. You can lose yourself in the story. But don't lose your mind (not yet hehehe)

Okay let's introduce wattpad first..
Pretty simple logo. According to WikipediaWattpad is a writing community in which users are able to post articles, stories, and poems about anything either online or through the Wattpad app. The content includes work by undiscovered and published writers. Users are able to comment and like stories or join groups associated with the website. Around half of the users are U.S. based; most users also come from the U.K., Canada, the Philippines, Australia, and more.

And boy, it's a lot of writers with amazing stories. Duh!! I discover them this year around last month. It's amazing. I have read a lot and there're so many. If you have time, bored, just click Wattpad. Search for romance, snobby, humor, anything!!

The writers also so dedicated. They want to be better, and I love see their passion on writing. I am not good at writing. That's why I start to write blog more. To overcome my dead brain which cannot function when it comes on writing. (hehehehehe)

If you guys want to start making your own stories in Wattpad and please let me know. I will be delighted to read your stories :)

See you guys ^^

Note:
Pssstt.. They have mobile apps for it too ^^
And I like it. Simple and practical.
