She went quietly...

I heard this one song by Charlie Winston, the tittle's "She Went Quietly". It's a nice song and for me, I can reflect to this song really well. Although she's surrounding by her friends and family, she cannot help feeling depressed, sad. Is it about work, study or just life.. We tend to face some problems and maybe it ended not so great. And when things started to pile up, we just need to do something to let it out. In this song, the women choose to go away without telling her family or friends. You can said she's running away, but for her that's what she needs to do, run.

I had the same phase too.. Depressed over things in life that I cannot control. I have some thought about running away. Maybe get a new life away from here. But my family won't let me alone, won't let me go. At first I hate it, but I know if they don't do that maybe now I'm in a wrong path, destroy myself.

Because life is unpredictable, at first it's sweet but then it'll turn sour..

We cannot predict what comes next, all we can do is live our life...

What is Happiness??

Yesterday, I wondered what is happiness? What makes you feel happy? In what form happiness come?

As I thought about it, I started to questioning myself about my happiness. Am I truly happy right now? The naive-me probably would say "No, I'm not. I'm not happy." But now, I can say, "I am happy. Truly happy and I wouldn't replace it with anything in this world."

Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. (source: Wikipedia)
For me, happiness is a warm feeling that makes me want to dance, sing, and shout to the world. Sometimes, I just want to see the sky and drown with this feeling. Whenever I see people happiness, I feel it too. And when I feel dejected, I miss those happy moments. That's why we must treasure those beautiful moments because it may not come again.

Pertamanya mereka emang dibikin ya di US jadi yang paling besar Amazon US. Tapi mereka punya Amazon untuk UK, France, Canada, German, Italia, Spanyol, Australia, Brazil, Jepang, China, India dan Mexico, dan situs untuk Sri Lanka dan negara Asia Tenggara segera menyusul.

Artikel ini bukan menceritakan pengalaman belanja saya. Sebenarnya saya lagi mencari CD Guardians of the Galaxy - Soundtrack dan secara kebetulan (ga juga sih) saya menemukannya di situs Amazon.com. Senang? Gembira? Eitss, jangan dulu. Mari saya beberkan cerita saya.

Jadi..

$14,67 * 11690 (kurs lewat cek di Internet) = Rp 171492,3

Saya cuma pikir.. okay, no problem. (kata orang-orang)

Okay, langkah selanjutnya Proceed Checkout.

  • Standard International Shipping - No tracking (rata-rata 18-32 hari)
  • AmazonGlobal Expedited Shipping (rata-rata 5-10 hari kerja)
  • AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping (rata-rata 2-4 hari)

Saya bingung memilih yang mana, akhirnya saya coba satu-satu. Pilih yang pertama harga pengirimannya sebesar $8,98. Bagaimana saya tahu? Karena harga total menjadi $23,65. Wah ternyata lumayan lah kira-kira 250 ribu rupiah nih. Tapi saya rada takut soalnya kita tidak bisa melacak keberadaan barang kita alias no tracking. Was was kan. Gimana kalau nyasar?

Oke, kita coba yang kedua yang rada cepet nyampe 5-10 hari kerja. Harganya ternyata $23,37. Wuih beda banget harganya sama yang opsi pertama. Harga ini juga setara harga CDnya, malah lebih. Tapi kalian ga was was kan plus ini termasuk cepet.

It feels unusual for me to write an article in Bahasa. Since almost 90% article in this blog is written in English.

Taylor Swift - Shake It Off

it's funny!!

i know there's a lot of comments about this song but please guys, just hear the lyrics and the video. it's funny. she's showing us that she cannot dance like a pro but she can move and groove! some said singing bring us happiness and i think dance express those feelings.

the point in this video is..

she cannot dance!

she's a normal person like us. she enjoy the music and dance through it, even it's not like a pro..

i think it's a great complement for the singer that people enjoy their song ^^

and for this video, i dance!!

it means "GREAT JOB MS. SWIFT!!"

The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved

Breaking up is hard. That's what this song tell me. You thought that they were your true love and suddenly they left you. You just want to go back time and pretend it's not happening. But they don't come back. And you're still waiting. Even though your friends and people told you to forget him/her. You don't have heart to do that. You're thinking "maybe he/she will come back when they knew I still love him/her".

But that never happened and it's breaking you.

Sometimes I wonder, why The Script always make songs about the pain after break up. The song is sad but beautiful at the same time. I guess you can say I am their fans after this song "The Man Who Can't Be Moved"

Great song, great band -> The Script..

I recommended this song. ^^

Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

I love this song. I heard this when I was in senior high. The simple melodies, his voice, the lyric, and the video just struck me.

If I lay here, If I just lay here.. Would you lie with me and just forget the world..??
This song has so many meanings, it could be about love. The three words, "I love you" describe it all but it's sometimes it's not enough. You're feeling for someone, you just cannot describe it in just three words. Well, it's one interpretation.

It could be about you want to cherish those moments with someone you love, someone special. You just want to stay with them forever. You just want to "lay with them" and "just forget the world".

Maybe it's about growing up. You feel that time pass so fast. You want to just stop the time and enjoy your life. Waste your time "chasing car", maybe it's about dreams. Thinking about our dreams and forget the life we have.

There're so many interpretations. One can be different with others. And I feel that too. The "me" in senior high listened to this song and "me" now has different thought. "Me" in the past felt that maybe it's about love, enjoy your time with someone you love. But I think maybe it's about growing up, cherish your moments now, and start chasing your dreams.

The conclusion is this is a great song, in the past and now..

Thanks for reading this.. see you ^^

How to Cope with Grief and Loss (of your loved ones)

You cannot prepared for what's coming to you or to your loved ones. Death is not something you can get away from it. Maybe you have toughen your heart, but when it happened, you just cry. Because when there's life, there's also death. You can celebrate life and grief for death.

You will blank for some reason, you cannot think what to do or say. Because some grief may come harder than the others. Grief for your dad or mom, your granny or your friend. You just have to deal with it.

First, it's okay to cry. Don't act your the tough ones. When someone dies, of course it's sad. Maybe you don't wanna cry in front of people. Then find some place to cry. Maybe the place you have memories of the person who die.

Second, pray for the person who die. It's relaxing to pray and knowing that even after death you can still care for her/him.

Third, get closer to friends or family. Because when the person who die is family member, it's soothing to have your family around you. It's the same if it's your friends. You can share memories, have a good laugh, and remember that you're not alone.

Fourth, focus on what's important. Like me, my dad had passed away just recently. It feels like a dream. After his death, I organized my life better. I see what is important in my life, what I need to do.

Fifth, get busy. It works every time I had bad things happened in my life. It's not good thing to do but it can ease my pain. Still you have to talk to somebody.

I hope that you can deal with your grief, your loss. I know it's hard when you see their picture, when you suddenly remember a memory about them. It's sad. You can be helped to feel sad at that time like that. But please don't feel that your life is over. There's people who deal with grief too. Like in my case, my mom, my sister, my aunts, and my uncles. We get together for 2-3 days, deal with our grief. We talked, laughed, and spent time together. It helps alot.

I know I am not a saint or someone that wise. But I have felt grief too. I hope you don't push people who love you and care about you. Because maybe you don't know that they deal with grief too. So take care of yourself and people around you. Thank you for reading this. It means alot. Thank you :)

John Venn birthday - Google's doodle!!

It's been a long time since I posted here. Many things happened during that short period. Election has passed and they already announced the result. Also, my father recently passed away. It's shocking for me, because that week I have seminar on my final project.
My dad passed away on July 7th, 2014. On July 12th, I had my seminar and a week after on July 19th, I had session for the final project. It done pretty well. I almost cried there, it's just picturing me on the final year of my study in Bogor Agricultural Institute (BAU) without my dad there, it's not what I had in my mind.
Anyway, this day is the first day after a short holiday and it's Monday. Right on this day, John Vann was born. He's the person who made that Vann's diagram. At first, I didn't notice but the name, the last name was familiar.

It's an interactive Google's doodle. You can click the play button and it'll go directly to (look the picture below). You have to choose one of the options.

After the options have been choose. You can see the result. Like what I chose are, sea life and have a shell. The result is (look below)

It's a turtle. Quite impressive aren't they? You can reset it and done it many times. If you want to know more about him, you can see it here John Vann's biography.
Okay, that's a wrap. Thank you for reading this post. I am sorry if there's misspells or my English's horrible. Again thank you. :)

Indonesian Election Day

Today is the most important day for Indonesian. They will vote between Prabowo and Jokowi to rule Indonesia as a president. It’s crucial, because the winner will be a president for 5 years. It’s not a short time, in 5 years Indonesia can developed or stuck. They have some incidents in their campaign. I think it’s never this exciting, well since the first time I vote. In quick count, Jokowi wins the election. But we never know till the KPU announce the next president.

First, let’s talk about Jokowi. From my point of view, it’s not right for a governor who still govern Jakarta to participate as presidential candidate. I don't know about the regulation about it. But don’t you have responsibility to Jakarta’s people?

Second, Prabowo with the issue about his job in military, Human Rights issue. They (media) said he’s the one who give instruction about the kidnapping. I think there is a news about he said about the issue is true.

Anyway, you can see that they plan to take their enemy down and it’s all about the people’s perspective about them. What people think is the only important thing here. Of course it is. I won't tell you which one I vote for. But right now, it’s rely on people hands. Hope for better and greater Indonesia!!

Thanks for reading this. ^^
I will also post when the result is out.

Brazillll - Google's doodle for FIFA World Cup 2014

I kind of forget to post this. Anyway how is the World Cup? It's such an unpredictable this year. You can see some great teams have a bad match. It's a shame. But if the World Cup can be predictable is not fun anymore. We need 'WOW' factor. Hehehehe..

Even though I'm not a football maniac, but I hope your favourite team can be in finals :)

Google doodle's - Again FIFA World Cup 2014

I hate it. I mean I love Google. But seriously, is it only me who is confused by this doodles? It don't make a sense. What is it means? I have tried to click it, but it only link to another match. Not what I need. It's like a miscommunication between me and Google. Bad guy Google!! :(

But I got to say, I like the animation. Not to much but enough. Anyway, see you next post. Bye bye ^^

Plan your travel - TripAdvisor

If you haven't read previous article, you can read that first or just read this article. Umm.. I am rambling again. So back again, this article's about traveling. It's more like planning.

Have you all visit TurisLokal? There're some differences between this travel site. First, TurisLokal is about the travel destinations in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the TripAdvisor's more like planning your travel, accommodations and of course the destinations too.

Second, TripAdvisor you can plan your entire trip, flight, hotel, restaurant in your destination. You can manage your budget with this site. At least you don't have to wander around and lost in new place. But TurisLokal you just read some articles that probably mention "how to get there" or "where's the restaurant".

Third, TurisLokal only comes in Bahasa Indonesia. On the other hand, TripAdvisor is in many language, more than 30 countries.

Forth, TripAdvisor has come with Mobile Application in iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. While TurisLokal only comes in website. The apps also free!!

Fifth, there's GreenLeaders Programme in TripAdvisor, so it identifies hotels and B&Bs that are committed to green practices like recycling, water efficiency and alternative energy. But there's no such thing in TurisLokal.

If you read it, you probably thinking that TripAdvisor has a lot to offer for traveler. I also think that way. But what I like about TurisLokal, it's made by Indonesian people. It maybe cannot compete with TripAdvisor, but hopefully it can reach Indonesian people.

Anyway, which one would you prefer TripAdvisor or TurisLokal?

in love with SwiftKey ^^

I have Samsung smartphone, and sometimes it's so slow that I want to throw it. It's not only Samsung, I bet when your smartphone done so many application in one time, it become slow too. So when I heard the news about SwiftKey became free, I am so ecstatic. I just installed it on Saturday and so far I love it.

What is SwiftKey? Here's the description from Google Play.
SwiftKey Keyboard is an intelligent app for Android that upgrades your device's on-screen keyboard, making it faster and easier for you to type. This free, award-winning app delivers smarter autocorrect and next-word prediction in over 60 languages. It’s packed full of customization features, including over 30 colorful themes, layouts for all screen sizes and devices, support for over 800 emoji, emoji prediction and much more!

Amazing that it include Javanese and Sundanese for their language library. But why there's no Japanese thou? To make it more confusing, it's including Korean. Anyway, I love it because it's a lot faster than Samsung Keyboard. Sorry Samsung.

You can also split the keyboard and drag the keyboard. It's easy, simple and fast. What more can I say? But if you don't like a plain theme, you can change it but of course not all of them are free. Yup, you have to buy it. Still, I love it.

In the article, it said that maybe SwiftKey will be in iOS. Well, we see..  If you want to get this apps in your Android devices just go to SwiftKey in Google Play

Thanks for reading this. Bye guys :)

FIFA WORLD CUP!! - Google doodle's

World Cupppppppppp!!!!!!

I am not a big fans of football/soccer but I like watching football match time to time. The big event is always World Cup. Watching it with your family and friends, this event can bring people together. I think this is a good event. With all the supporters who watch in stadium or at home. The spirit is so high and you can feel the atmosphere even you only watch it on tv.

Of course this big event didn't go unnoticed by Google. Nope. They make a doodle of it. I got to say, it's a cute one. :3

You can see all the matches and the teams who compete here -> FIFA WORLD CUP 2014

Right now, I am under so much pressure. I'm start to losing hope. But I know it's just another obstacle that I have to go through. What I am doing now..

  2. Materials. Make sure you have all materials you need.
  3. Get foods!! You need to think? Get foods on your table now.
  4. Breathe. You're start to panic and it's no good. Come on!! You can do it.
  5. Relax. Get into comfortable position. If you're working in front laptop, take a nice seat.
  6. Pray to God. Hope you finish the tasks on time.

Love to travel? TurisLokal for travel around Indonesia

TurisLokal is new face for traveling in Indonesia. It has simple web design and nice articles. I'm rarely go to trip. Well, my life is always like that. But still I like searching about new place, new restaurant. For my experience with searching about traveling..

What I love about TurisLokal..
+ clean look
+ got some picture to explain the trip
+ cover some favourite spot in Indonesia
+ there're some tips for traveling
+ you can follow their newest travel from instagram and twitter

What I think need more attention..
- need more articles
- cover some fabulous spots in Indonesia
- no google maps helps
- language in Bahasa (Indonesia)
- no details about the travel (like cost or transportation)

Nice website, but maybe they need some modification. :)
Anyway, thanks for read this article. See you ^^

Foxit or Adobe?

Do you get many assignments and they all have to be in pdf? People said "get me the pdf" or "do you have the pdf?". PDF is document type like doc. But why people talk more about pdf?

First, Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format used to present documents in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout flat document, including the text, fonts, graphics, and other information needed to display it. (source: Wikipedia)

So we cannot change anything in pdf. That's why people use it. When we open doc in our laptop, it could be that the software version of ours is lower than the person who gave the document. That could lead, several problems with layout, some graphic won't come out, and etc.

Now, I will get to the software. There're many software to read pdf, such as Foxit and Adobe. This are 2 software which widely used by people.

As I read in their website, Foxit Reader is small, fast, and feature rich PDF viewer which allows you to open, view, and print any PDF file. Unlike other free PDF readers, Foxit Reader also includes easy to use collaboration features like the ability to add annotations, fill out forms, and share content with social networks. It is designed to meet the PDF viewing needs of enterprise and government organizations, making it easy to deploy and manage in large enterprise environments. Foxit Reader can also be customized to specific product features and branding.

+ Open multiple PDF files in one window. If you open many files, it'll be in different tabs.
+ Add and manage comments in line, as note, highlight text, strikeout text or underline the text.
+ Convert a file into a PDF.
+ Create PDF from scanned documents, from content on the clipboard, or create a blank PDF.
+ Create and manage signature.
+ Create a new link in PDF.
+ Select viewed area in bookmark.
+ Attach file and insert image, audio and video.
+ Add stamps.
+ Send through email, Evernote or Facebook.

Adobe Reader is a free software from Adobe to open, view and print PDF files.

- Only open one PDF in one window.
+ Add text and placed signature.
+ Add comment in sticky notes or highlight text.
+ Export PDF files online.
+ Create PDF files
+ Send files in attachment or using Adobe Send.
+ Page Thumbnails. Go to specific pages using thumbnails image.
+ Attachments. View file attachments.

Foxit Reader (left) and Adobe Reader (right)
From my experience with both software, I prefer Foxit Reader. It's simple with many function and it can open multiple files. That is very important to college student like me and also to people who open PDF very often.

Anyway, thanks for read my articles. Bye bye ^^

Share Your Secret (w/ Mobile Apps)

Recently, I became so busy and forgot to post in this blog. Well, I have another in Tumblr. But it has a lot of post about One Ok Rock. I tend to go back and forth with this blog and the other. Anyway, I opened DailySocial for some news. Guess what it's about social media where we can post as anonymous. Hmm..

I found that is interesting. It's new concept. You can post to stranger without giving in your identity. You can freely post your mind. Freedom. Without the others to judge. They can judge but hey they don't know who you ar, pre say.

As in the article, there're 3 mobile apps with that concept.
  1. Rahasiaku - Berbagi Rahasia (Android) It was made by Polatic in Android platform. The language is Indonesia. But I confused because the category is entertainment. Since the other apps category is social. But the function pretty much the same. The rating is 5 by 7 people. I guess because it's new only 10-50 download. If you want to post here, you must register weather with email or facebook account. And the Pesan fitur or message fitur is not complete. Too bad..
    The main page. Looks simple.

    Menu Layout

    RahasiaKu

    Pesan
  2. Secret (Android and iOS) Secret is a new way to share what you're thinking and feeling with your friends. You can write anything that’s on your mind, free of judgment. Be honest. Be open. Be yourself. There're 100.000 - 500.000 people who had download this app. You have to register if you want to use it.
  3. Whisper (Android and iOS) There're 1.000.000 - 5.000.000 people who downloaded this app. It's bigger number than Rahasiaku and Secret. Whisper is an anonymous social network that allows people to express themselves, connect with like-minded individuals, and discover the unseen world around us. With Whisper, you can anonymously share your thoughts and emotions with the world, and form lasting and meaningful relationships in a community built around trust and honesty. If you have ever had something too intimate to share on traditional social networks, simply share it on Whisper!\
    Main Page
    Setting

In my opinion, I rather use Whisper that Secret and Rahasiaku. Since in Whisper you don't have to sign up to post. But over all they offer same thing, anonymous post. Some with advantage over the others. Thanks for read this. Bye

My car won't start?!

I'm 21 years old woman, who is studying computer science. I love watching Moto GP, Formula 1, and even Top Gear. But seriously I don't know that much about otomotive. Today happens to be one of my not so lucky day. My car won't start, well I'm busy and I'm still use public transportation to go to college. So I don't use the car that much. I hate traffic and it's my sister's car.

I will give you some tips, like 101 tips when you have problems with your car (especially if it won't start).

When your car won't start, check the car battery.
If it looks dry or empty, then just call nearest workshop or you can call your insurance workshop.
If it's still full and liquid, then there's something wrong with your car battery. You can jumper the car battery and there're several ways to do that. First, push the car. You can start the car when your friend or someone push it.
Push the car
Second, use another car battery. You can use jumper cables to connect another car battery with our car battery. Then you can start the working car and after a while you can start the disable car. Hopefully it works.
Use another car battery
Third, car battery backup. Connect the cable from backup to the car and start the backup. After that try to start the car.
Car Battery Backup

After the jumper, the car stops again
If it stops again, you probably have to call workshop and have a technician to check on your car. But in my case, my car battery have to be replaced. :(

I just crash another car
Ohh boy, calm and be rational. Don't give them your certificate of vehicle ownership/ STNK in Indonesia and your driving license. Apologize to them and talk about solution. If you know a workshop, you can offer to take them there. And if there's injuries, call ambulance and police.

I know we usually panic if some problems happen. But remember just calm cause panic won't help. So anyway there're some (useful) tips from me ^^ Ciao
If you want to ask more just leave a comment below..

Concerts in June - Indonesia :)

Yeppieeeeee.. There're so many concerts in June, 2014. I am so excited :)
Here it's the list of the concerts ^^

  • 4th June - Taylor Swift in Mata Elang International Stadium, Jakarta. Price range from 800 thousands to 4 millions. But there're some incidents in tickets sale. The promoters are City Entertainment and AEG Live. Well, I don't really know other artists using City Entertainment. So the promoter probably still new.

K-pop Beauty? It's not difficult!!

K-pop (an abbreviation of Korean pop; Korean: 가요 kayo) is a musical genre originating in South Korea that is characterized by a wide variety of audiovisual elements. Although it comprises all genres of "popular music" within South Korea, the term is more often used in a narrower sense to describe a modern form of South Korean pop music covering mostly dance-pop, pop ballad, electronic, rock, hip-hop, R&B, etc. (source: Wikipedia)

The point is, now K-pop wave or Hallyu wave has affected the world. From Western World, Europe, and of course Asia. You can see some K-pop artist in Channel V - VCD. We cannot ignore the fact which shows that some K-pop artist done surgery for double eyelids or anything to make them like a perfect being. I sometimes see them like perfect Asian Barbie and I love Barbie, I want to be like them. But I am not sure I want to done a surgery. That's why I like to see Beauty tutorial for K-pop make up.

There're some tv shows like Get It Beauty or Pony's Beauty Diary. I love to watch them if I have time. But if I'm busy, I just search them in YouTube. Guess what? I found them!!

VINCCI - Malaysia Footwear Brand

About a year ago, I went to Spore (Singapore) and KL Malaysia. It's a short trip. When we shopped there, we saw this VINCCI store. Of course we went in and bought some shoes. There're so many people because it's on sale. Figured.
VINCCI is the most prominent brand of the Padini family. A footwear brand that focuses on chic and affordability, most of its shoes are made from synthetic material. It also sells watches, sunglasses, PVC handbags and bead accessories. VINCCI was established to market ladies shoes, bags, belts and other accessories in 1986. (source: Wikipedia)
If you want to see the collection, just go to this link. Since 2005, the first VINCCI store in Indonesia was opened at Mal Taman Anggrek. In Indonesia, they used VNC for shoes from VINCCI.

I bought this shoes because, I don't know. I like it, I guess :)

And then I saw Justin Timberlake - Mirror Music Video. I just, woow, It looks like the same, from afar.

Anyway, bye bye. See you ^^

Who doesn't love cereal???

I love cereal!! Since I was a child, I ate cereal every morning. But when I was in college, it's kind of hard because I have to stay at dorm. Now, I have this love for Kellogg's Froot Loops..

It's delicious, and not so sweet, which I love about. Colorful and fun :3
I don't now, I have soft spot for Kellogg's.. I like Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes!! Who doesn't love Corn Flakes? It sound silly. But I know there're certain people who don't like eating cereal. I'm not gonna judge or something. Because I have some foods or fruits that I don't like. Like I don't really like pineapple, watermelon, durian, and raisins.

A Kellogg's cereal and milk breakfast is nutritious at its most delicious. With every spoonful, it has protein to help rebuild and grains to help recharge your body. So go ahead, get reacquainted with your favorite bowl of crunchy goodness. It just fuels right. (source: Kellogg's)
Eating cereal is linked to a higher consumption of micronutrients as well as a lower fat and cholesterol intake. (source: link)
The point is "cereal is good for breakfast". It's lower fat and cholesterol. Also, if you want some more nutrients, just add fruits to it. Like berries, apple, banana. It's like a win win. You get nutrients from cereal and fruits.

So don't be afraid to go and try eat cereals. ^^ see you..

Uber @ Jakarta guys!!

Yeyy.. I got news yesterday, that Uber will be operated @ Jakarta this year. Hopefully this year. Are you guys excited? I am!! Wooo... Urg too much exictement... sorry.. let's get down to it..

What is Uber?

Uber is an American venture-funded start-up and transportation network company based in San Francisco, California that makes mobile application software ("app") that connects passengers with drivers of vehicles for hire and ride-sharing services. The company arranges pickups in dozens of cities around the world.
Initially, Uber drivers had cars such as Lincoln Town Cars, Cadillac Escalades, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes-Benz S550 sedans. After 2012, Uber added a wider selection of cars to market to a broader cross-section of the market, called UberX. Cars are reserved by sending a text message or by using a mobile app. Using the apps, customers can track their reserved car's location.

Uber is evolving the way the world moves. By seamlessly connecting riders to drivers through our apps, we make cities more accessible, opening up more possibilities for riders and more business for drivers. From our founding in 2009 to our launches in over 70 cities today, Uber's rapidly expanding global presence continues to bring people and their cities closer.

It's a great mobile apps!! we don't need to say where we going, how to get there, and for money, the charge comes to our credit card. Ride-sharing concept? Brilliant! You can asked for private drivers. Of course it's not taxi. But the drivers already had a background check so you can relax. I got to say, it must be interesting to be a driver ^^ (check this article)

But I don't know if they will be succeed in Indonesia. According to DailySocial, there're some regulation in Indonesia. Because Uber doesn't have commercial license like taxi, so they can be called "illegal taxi". Well, I am from Indonesia and I wonder what if there're crimes when passages ride with partner car (ride-sharing drivers). Anyway, Uber can faced some lawsuit if they don't handle the situation with the governor here (Indonesia). I just hope they have handled the problems before opening at Jakarta.

Psstt..
Uber_JKT is looking for interns for this summer. But you have to be fluent in Indonesia and English of course. You can send your CV to andrewkim@uber.com. If you want to know what jobs are offered, just go to this link.

That's it and have a nice day..

We need more storage!!

Yes, deep down inside, I know we all think, we need more storage. We have enough but not enough for our hobbies (maybe photography, movie, anything) or for someone with so much document. At some point, you begin to search for storage.

That's when cloud storage began to shine. Do you know what is cloud storage?
Cloud storage is a model of networked enterprise storage where data is stored in virtualized pools of storage which are generally hosted by third parties.
So basically you can store data virtually, not in your hard-disk. But to access it you need network, internet. It's an unlimited storage online!!

Personally I used so many cloud storage. Some for my college project and materials, some just my pictures because I tend to shot a lot of pictures back when I was in senior high. For now, I will write down some of cloud storage that I used ^^

  1. Dropbox - Start from 2 GB (you can get more from invite people). I am quiet happy with it. Nahh, I just majorly happy!! I got 6 GB because.. ohh I don't know maybe because I sync it with my phone. LOL lame excuses.. sorry guys, i don't know the reason why..
  2. Box - Start from 10 GB for free (according to their web). I put all my college materials and projects here. It's interface looks the same with Dropbox.
  3. MediaFire - Start from 10 GB. People used it mostly to share their files with others because I think it's a lot easier. Thou I don't open it anymore.
  4. Google Drive - Start from 15 GB. What make people use it, because it's synchronized with Google Mail. Google and their empire =___=;;;

So far? I like Dropbox because it can sync our photos from smartphone to the cloud storage. It's simple and easy. I hope this article can helped you :)

That's all from me. I hope I can see you tomorrow ^^

Public Speaking? Frightening?

I have been there. Where I had to conquer my fear of speak in front of audience. I took a class about the basic communication. It had a task, frightening task, public speaking. I was freaking out. I like talking, but not when all the attention is on you. I'm sure there're some who think the same. Now, I will write down about this particular activity.

According to Wikipedia,
Public speaking is the process and act of speaking or giving a lecture to a group of people in a structured, deliberate manner intended to inform, influence, or entertain a listening audience. Public speaking is commonly understood as face-to-face speaking between individuals and an audience for the purpose of communication. It is closely allied to "presenting", although the latter is more often associated with commercial activity. Most of the time, public speaking is to persuade the audience.

So, we can say that public speaking = speaking in front of people. It doesn't matter if it's a meeting, a campaign, a lecture, every kind of activity that make people speak in front of public, it's public speaking. (The way I said it, it's kind of confusing ^^;;)

Is it frightening? Yes. It is nerve-wreaking!!

In this article, I will give you some tips to help.. (I hope it helps)

  1. you have prepare topic or ideas (sometimes you have to give a speech so suddenly. just make sure you have a clear idea) make sure you know what type audience you're dealing with.
  2. master the topic. it helps if you master it, so you don't get nervous on stage.
  3. practice in front of your friends and make them criticize you. because criticize make your performance better.
  4. focus during the speech. if you start to think they stare to much, remember it's because you're the one who speak. it's not bad, it's good. you have their attention. well, to entertain the audience, you can pick a well-known topic, funny one, or interesting.
  5. BREATH!! if you start getting nervous, just pause a second, take a deep breath and continuing your speech again.
  6. It's okay to fail. Even though it's a bad speech, remember what you have done wrong, so you can fix it for the next time you try public speaking again. After all, practice makes perfect!!
That's what I think summarize my personal experience. If you have some tips, please just comment below. Thank you and see you ^^

What I Learned in College (Part 2)

This is the continuation from the last article, What I Learned in College (Part 1). I already give 7 things I learned in college. But that's not all!! Here's some things to complete the list :)

  1. Exercise. If you think you can be slim, healthy and fit in college without some exercise. Boy, you're so wrong. I don't care if you are busy, just do 30 minutes exercise for 3-4 times a week. It helps you fit in college :)
  2. Learning. If you have things to say, just say it. It's your own view and opinion. And everybody can speak out. It's not a crime. If you're wrong, take it as a personal learning. It's college, it's preparation before going to work life/ real life. It's ok to be wrong.
  3. You are not perfect, but you're unique. When you go to college, you can find some interesting people. They are from all around the countries even from other countries. That doesn't make you plain and not unique. Don't be shy and try to be friend with some amazing people. Don't forget, you're not perfect. If you get down, and look at your friends happy with their success. Remember, you're time to shine will come sooner or later. :)
  4. Success will come. Just prepare for it..
  5. YOLO. Enjoy your life. Take some risk. Look at some hobby. Do everything. Don't leave any regret.. You cannot turn back time. So just enjoy and have some fun. If you fall, just back up and keep moving forward.
  6. Happy and grateful. Be happy in your college year. So when you graduate, you can look back and smile to the fun, happy, amazing adventure in college. Also try to be grateful for what you have. You don't know when your time is up. But you have to be grateful for each breath that you take, that you are still alive and be successful
  7. Spend you time wisely. You can have fun and do crazy stuff but you have to be responsible because you're a student with projects and tasks. That's why you need to organize better..
Ahh.. I am so sleepy. Thanks for reading this article. Thank :)

What I Learned in College (Part 1)

I just read The 16 Most Important Lessons I Learned In College and I start thinking, within this past 4 years what did I learn in my College, Bogor Agricultural University. I'm still a computer science student and now working hard to graduate this year. Wish me luck. ^^

Anyway, I learned so much during my 4 years in college. Met some interesting friend and lecturer. It's all fun and exciting. In the article, she said that often we get a job in something totally unrelated with our study. It's true. Sometimes what we study is not what we love, it's just because our parents kinda force us (but it's for our own good) We only have to work hard and survive the college.

Now I will write down what I think based on the article..

  1. Food!! We need so much food and snacks. After a long day, you go back to dorm or apartment, the only thing keep you sane is food. Believe me, when you're exhausted, you probably too lazy to go out. That's why you need food in your room :)
  2. Fast food delivery. When you run out food, just dial for delivery. You don't have to cook, that's the best part. It's great if it's 24 hours. Right? hahahhaha..
  3. Appearance. The article is right, appearance is important in certain time. You don't have to worry about it all the time. Example, for class just look presentable and clean. You don't need dress to impress for class, thou it's different if you have crush on someone :)
  4. Keep in touch is hard. I fear that when I graduate, I won't be friend again with some of my friend in college. But I know it'll be the same as senior high to college, and junior high to senior high. You cannot be perfect all the time. It's the same as friendship, maybe you cannot be as close as before but you are still friend. Just need some work to keep the friendship but it's worth it.
  5. Internet is entertaining. In my mayor, we love internet. When we stuck in some project, some homework, you can find the solution on internet. Boys love online game too. Not all of them. ^^
  6. He/she always having fun. Maybe you are wondering, my friend is in different mayor and he/she looks like having fun all the time. He/she hang out every night. Not true guys!! Even it look like that, you probably don't know that they have a ton of homework, full schedule all week. The different is your schedule, maybe he/she have test when you have day off. It's college not senior high. You don't get the same schedule guys..
  7. Google Translate and spell-checked are awesome. True, it saves me all the time. I'm an Indonesian. My main language is not English so I truly saved by Google Translate and spell-checked too ^^

Well, I will continue the article tomorrow. I have work to do. See you guys :)
